"You get Salesforce Platform included in the Kaptio license to begin with"—with purpose-built objects for travel operators. Kaptio provides 100% of the travel CRM functionality you need from day one. As your business scales, Service Cloud and Marketing Cloud are natural add-ons that many of our customers adopt to expand support and marketing capabilities.

Kaptio on Platform Licenses vs Salesforce Sales Cloud

Platform licenses + Kaptio deliver industry-specific CRM for travel. Sales Cloud adds general-purpose sales automation when needed.

Capability Salesforce Platform Platform + Kaptio Sales/Service Cloud
Accounts & Contacts
Activities & Tasks
Reports & Dashboards
Trip Object (Customer Journey) Travel-Specific
Itinerary Object (Proposals) Travel-Specific
Passengers & Bookings Travel-Specific
Leads (Generic) General Purpose
Opportunities (Generic) General Purpose

Key Insight: Kaptio provides industry-specific CRM objects (highlighted in yellow) that speak the language of multi-day tour and cruise operators—Trips, Itineraries, Passengers, Packages. Sales Cloud provides general-purpose sales tools (Leads, Opportunities) that are industry-agnostic.

Platform Limits & Allocations

Understanding your storage, API, and object limits with Kaptio's OEM embedded licenses.

Resource Allocation Details
Data Storage 20 MB/user + 10 GB base Example: 100 users = 12 GB total (100 × 20 MB + 10 GB)
File Storage 2 GB/user + 10 GB base Example: 100 users = 210 GB total (100 × 2 GB + 10 GB)
API Requests 1,000/user/day + 100k base Total: 100,000 + (users × 1,000) per 24-hour period
Custom Objects 10 beyond Kaptio Kaptio's 400+ managed package objects don't count against this limit
Custom Tabs 25 For organizing custom objects and Lightning pages

Good to Know: These limits are generous for typical travel operator usage. Most Kaptio customers never approach these limits—Kaptio's purpose-built objects handle the heavy lifting. Storage and API add-ons are available if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Kaptio and Salesforce licensing

No, you do not need separate Salesforce licenses to use Kaptio—our solution includes all the necessary technology. Kaptio provides a fully functional, world-class CRM built on Salesforce's platform. However, if you already have Salesforce licenses or wish to purchase them alongside Kaptio, our platform can seamlessly integrate with your existing Salesforce setup through our ISV model.
Kaptio is built natively on the Salesforce Platform, leveraging Salesforce's enterprise-grade infrastructure for security, scalability, and reliability. Think of it this way: Salesforce provides the platform (accounts, contacts, reports, workflows), and Kaptio adds the travel industry expertise (Trips, Itineraries, Packages, Passengers, Bookings).
For Kaptio-only usage: Platform licenses (included in OEM model, or purchased from Salesforce in ISV model). For Kaptio + Lead/Opportunity/Case management: Full Sales Cloud or Service Cloud licenses. KTAPI sync user requires at least ONE full Salesforce license (not Platform). Admins/Developers typically require full Salesforce licenses for complete configuration access.
Yes! Platform licenses include Accounts, Contacts, Activities, Custom objects (up to 10 beyond Kaptio's package), Reports, Dashboards, Analytics, Workflows, validation rules, automation, Chatter for team collaboration, and Mobile app access. Platform licenses do NOT include Leads, Opportunities, Campaigns, Cases (standard Salesforce objects).
ISV (ISVforce) Model is for existing Salesforce customers—purchase Platform licenses from Salesforce + Kaptio licenses from us. OEM Model is for non-Salesforce customers—everything from Kaptio as a single vendor relationship with Platform licenses embedded in pricing.
Yes! Sandbox environments (Developer/Developer Pro) are included in your Salesforce org license, regardless of whether you're using the ISV or OEM model. Sandboxes allow you to test configurations, integrations, and customizations in a safe environment before deploying to production.
Yes, but they're generous for travel operators. With Kaptio's OEM model, you can create up to 10 additional custom objects beyond Kaptio's managed package. Since Kaptio provides 400+ purpose-built travel objects (Trips, Itineraries, Passengers, Bookings, etc.), most customers never need additional objects. Kaptio's managed package objects don't count against your 10-object limit.
Kaptio provides purpose-built objects for travel: Trip Object acts as the overarching container for customer intent (Prospecting → Qualification → Quote → Confirmed → Travelling → Completed). Itinerary Object represents specific configurations and proposals within a Trip. These integrate naturally with marketing automation for targeted campaigns.
