Step-by-step guide for customer and partner users who need access to Kaptio Backstage using their company email address.

Kaptio staff use Google sign-in with their @kaptio.com account. Customer and partner users sign in with their company email (for example @tauck.com) and a password set via invite.

Overview

Kaptio Backstage is Kaptio’s internal toolkit for exploring packages, departures, inventory, and operational data outside of Salesforce. It includes tools such as data validation, script runners, and the Promotion Simulator — useful during implementation, migration, and hypercare.

Backstage lives at backstage.production.kaptioapis.com.

This guide is for customer and partner users who do not have a @kaptio.com email address but have been granted Backstage access for their project.

Before You Start

You need a Kaptio login account created for you first. You cannot sign in with a personal email or your company email until Kaptio has provisioned access.

What to expect:

  1. Your Kaptio program contact (Program Manager, Lead Consultant, or Technical Architect) requests access on your behalf.
  2. Kaptio creates your account and sends a welcome email to your work address.
  3. You set your password from that email, then sign in to Backstage.

Do not try to self-register. Backstage does not support open sign-up. If you have not received an invite, contact your Kaptio program contact before raising a support ticket.

First-Time Login

Follow these steps when you receive your welcome email:

1. Open the welcome email

Look for an email from Kaptio with a subject like “Welcome to Kaptio” or “Set your password”. It will be sent to the work email address your program contact provided (for example firstname.lastname@tauck.com).

2. Set your password

Click the link in the email to open the password setup page. Choose a strong password and save it in your password manager.

Tip: The link may expire after a few days. If it has expired, ask your Kaptio program contact to resend the invite.

3. Open Backstage

Go to backstage.production.kaptioapis.com.

4. Click Sign in

On the Backstage home screen, click Sign in.

5. Enter your credentials

  • Email: your work email address (the one Kaptio provisioned — not a @kaptio.com address)
  • Password: the password you set in step 2

6. Land on the Backstage home screen

After a successful login, you will see the Backstage home screen with the tools available to your account. Available modules depend on your role and project — not every user sees every tool.

Returning Visits

On later visits, the flow is shorter:

  1. Go to backstage.production.kaptioapis.com
  2. Click Sign in
  3. Enter your work email and password
  4. You are taken to the Backstage home screen

Your session may persist in the browser. If you are already signed in, Backstage opens directly without asking for credentials again.

Troubleshooting

”Access denied” or “You do not have permission”

Your account exists but may not have Backstage access yet, or your role does not include the module you are trying to open. Contact your Kaptio program contact to confirm access has been provisioned.

Wrong email address

You must use the exact work email Kaptio registered for you. Personal Gmail, Outlook, or a different company alias will not work. Ask your program contact which email was used if you are unsure.

Password setup links expire. Ask your Kaptio program contact to resend the welcome email.

Forgot password

On the sign-in screen, use the Forgot password link (if shown) to reset via email. If that option is not available, contact your Kaptio program contact or raise a ticket at help.kaptio.com.

Sign-in page shows Google / Kaptio SSO only

If you see a Google or Kaptio SSO button but no email-and-password option, you may be on the wrong sign-in path. Look for an option to sign in with email and password, or contact your program contact — customer accounts use a different login flow from Kaptio staff.

Page loads but tools are missing

Backstage modules are granted per user and per project. Missing tools usually means your access has not been configured for that module yet. This is expected during early project phases.
