Problem
Customer needed clarification on what the Cumulative Pricing field does on price categories and when it should be enabled.
What We Found
Cumulative Pricing is a feature that enables volume-based pricing discounts by counting multiple price categories from the same service together to determine which pricing tier applies.
Solution
- Cumulative Pricing enables volume-based pricing where different price categories from the same service (e.g., different room types at the same hotel) are counted together to determine pricing tiers
- Items are grouped together for cumulative pricing when they: (1) Have Cumulative Pricing = Enabled, (2) Belong to the same Service, (3) Have the same Date From and Date To, (4) Are part of a Price Model or Operational Itinerary
- Example: If Standard Double Room and Standard Single Room both have Cumulative Pricing enabled with pricing tiers at 5+ rooms, booking 3 doubles and 2 singles (total 5 rooms) qualifies both for the volume discount tier
- This feature ONLY applies to itineraries using Group Touring functionality (specifically Price Models and Operational Itineraries)
- If you are not using Group Touring features, enabling or disabling Cumulative Pricing will have no impact on pricing calculations
Notes
- The total cumulative quantity determines which pricing tier applies to all items in the group
- All items in the cumulative group must share the same Service, dates, and have the flag enabled
- This is designed for volume purchasing discounts - e.g., hotels offering lower rates when booking more rooms
Warnings
โ ๏ธ Only applicable to Group Touring functionality - has no effect on standard FIT bookings โ ๏ธ Requires consistent setup across all price categories that should be counted together
